If you know me personally than you know birth photography is something I am very passionate about. Birth in general is just amazing to me, watching a new baby come in to the world and take their first breath and that first little cry is so amazing. It brings tears to my eyes every single time. I love capturing the photos during a birth that a mom or dad or even family member would never think to get and then to turn it into a story line with out even needing words. Mom’s need their partners during labor wither it is natural or medicated, they need the support, the love, to hold hands and embrace the moment without distractions. That’s where I come in and photograph one of the biggest days in a family’s life while they just enjoy and take it all in. There will never be another first “birth day” with each child you have so embrace it and take it all in and cherish the memory forever with photos.
I was contacted months prior to K’s delivery (smart move mom) to capture her birth story. Her and her husband have two girls and son at home already and were expecting a surprise gender baby. So fun! We stayed in contact and meet in person to discuss her birth plan and the day finally came. Easy enough this day was planned with an induction so I kissed my boys good bye for the day and headed out early in the morning to photograph the special occasion. I arrived after they had checked in and broke moms water. She started to feel a little uncomfortable so they got her epidural going and had to bring mom’s blood pressure back up after. Luckily her husband was right there with her, rubbing her arm and watching her stats. Everything resumed just fine and baby did great. The next couple of hours were spent with mom and dad resting, reading, impatiently waiting (haha). With fast prior births mom just knew this one would fly and was surprised it wasn’t. With a little help of pitocin and doing a little Skype with their kids then a quick hug and kiss from them before lunch time, mom started to feel pressure. I got pretty excited at those words because only a few quick hours had even passed by this point. Nurses and the doctor filled the room and set up and dad suited up to catch his baby coming into the world. Within just few minutes of pushing a beautiful baby BOY came into the world crying and dads eyes light up like a child on Christmas morning. Dad announced gender and moms eyes filled with tears and a big smile on her face. Little Lucas Adam 8lbs 4oz and 22in long born healthy and blessed to a loving family.
Thank you K. family for allowing me to capture your day. Congrats!
